This is the only thing keeping me sane this off season. It's rare when we get a poophead to hold our attention this long.

If he is thinking long term, and cap space.. Jersey has a shot.. Short-term and cup contenders Blackhawks. Leafs are another long-term consideration

Imagine Vesey turns out to be the next McDavid or some out of this world 60 goal player.

A couple of things:
1) Cannot wait until this is over. Barely heard of Vesey until this Year and now he's the promised child
2) Cap space. People keep saying he's going to consider cap space...why? In two years almost every team will have a different cap structure than they do now. Vegas takes away a contract, you can make trades, etc. As Lou used to say, when you have time, use it. And also, don't worry about my cap.

It'll be over soon....

Good point on the cap space but for Chicago the cap space will be an ongoing issue. They've done a great job managing it and if Vesey is the poop they'll figure out how to pay him. But it's still a relevant concern, even if it shouldn't be a big factor in where to sign. I'd think the issue is with Chicago (or a cap strapped team) is that if Vesey doesn't perform they might want to clear him out.

Try not to be such a Mbumhole everyday. That got changed.... just put Mass (from Massachusetts) together with hole... and you get the picture.

Don't understand all the hype over a guy that has never played a professional game in his life majority of players find it hard to make the jump from the AHL to NHL and this kid thinks he is special? He's a 3rd round pick middle 6 player at best in my opinion if the Devils can get him I'm fine with it if not I'm fine with that as well

If Vesey turns out to be a dud, then the team that signs him can choose not to qualify him and make him a free agent and the end of two Years. He signs for 925K plus the bonuses. If he sucks, he's not getting all the bonuses. If he's the poop, then you do what you have to and get rid of an older core piece who might not be core in two Years.

Anyone else get the feeling this kid is going to be a total bust? Or just me?

Impossible to live up to the hype now. Doubt he will bust out of the league, but even if he is a career 3rd line forward he will be considered garbage at this point.

Why all the hype? Bust or not, it's basically a free draft pick in August. Every team "in" on Vesey has a chance to add a top notch NHL ready prospect to their system for nothing. The kid will get signed to a entry level deal and look to make his money in bonuses. If he hits them, great for him AND the team. If he turns out to be a flop, well then in a few years the team can just let him walk. It's a win win. As far as New Jersey prospects goes, I had Craig Button, from TSN, tweet me last night saying he thinks Vesey is a better prospect than Zacha. Personally I don't agree after watching plenty of Zacha but he's the expert, not me. It would be HUGE in speeding up the rebuild for New Jersey to add this kid.

This is why he probably thinks that:

CSN seems to think its a race between the Rangers and Devils for Vesey. With CHI possibly having a shot. Doesn't really think any of the others have a chance. Hopefully he sees Lundquist as declining in the next two years and Schneider just starting a new contract with NJ and sees us as the better option at this point.
